Recent Migration Occupations in Demand List Clarifications from ACS in relation to ACSO Code: 2231-79

by Thong Nguyen

We have contacted the Australian Computer Society in relation to the recent MODL announcement (dated 15 December 2005) and the inclusion of occupation of Computing Professionals, ASCO Code: 2231-79, with five specialisations.

The ACS has clarified the following:

  1. To be eligible for the MODL points - ACS must specify in their letter that you meet the requirements for one of the five specialisations.
  2. In order to meet the specialisations, ACS requires a minimum of 12 months work experience specifically in that specialised field. Recent graduates without work experience would not meet this requirement.
  3. The MODL categories will only be considered on or after 15 December 2005. This means that anyone with a current ACS assessment, who thinks they meet the requirement for the specialisation and have relevant work experience, will need to lodge a new application for skills assessment with ACS.
