Does the temporary graduate visa (subclass 485) require me to pass an English proficiency test?
As part of your visa application, you might need to provide proof of your English language skills. Take the IELTS exam, which measures your English language proficiency for studying, working, and immigrating. You can take the IELTS test at any of our Australian IELTS test centers because IDP is a co-owner of the exam.
To support my application for a replacement 485 visa, will I need OSHC (overseas student health coverage)?
If you have a current student visa, you must be covered by an overseas student health insurance policy at the time of application. This is a requirement of your student visa. You must submit proof of your current OSHC along with your visa application.
However, for your 485 visa application to be approved, you’ll still need to get health insurance during the period that your visa is being processed. The Department of Home Affairs will get in touch with you because, before issuing your 485 visas, they need proof that you have purchased a policy that conforms with those standards.
For instance, if you receive a bridging visa during the 485 visa processing period and your student visa expires, your OSHC policy will also end. You must get a new health insurance plan that satisfies the requirements for 485 visa holders before your student visa and OSHC coverage expire. You must have and maintain adequate health insurance for the duration of your stay in Australia once your 485 visa application has been approved.
