CHANGES TO ASSURANCE OF SUPPORT (AOS)

Please be advised that there are changes in the Assurance of Support requirements.  A Determination (The Social Security (Assurance of Support) Determination 2018) came into effect on 1 April 2018. The changes include significantly increasing the income threshold for assurers from 01 April 2018 and increasing the amount of bonds from 1 April 2019.

The changes will apply to all the Assurance of Support applications for approval as an assurer made on or after 1 April 2018, regardless of when the associated visa applications were made. Please be advised that the Assurance of Support is a requirement at the time of decision when a final decision is about to be made on the application.  Please note this is a quick change made by the Australian Government without any prior notice.

Please be advised that the ‘Mandatory’ Assurance of Support will apply to Subclasses 103, 114, 115, 143, 804, 835, 838 and 864 visas.

Please also be advised that the ‘Discretionary’ Assurance of Support will apply to Subclasses 101, 102, 117, 151, 802 and 837 visas.

Income of the assurer will significantly increase based on Newstart income cut-off amount (currently $28,869) and the number of adult and child members in both families (assurer and assuree).

For your information and details, please find attached information sheets and documents about these changes published by the Australian government.
