Closure - RSMS Subclass 187 Program

The Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) Subclass 187 will close from 16 November 2019.

The RSMS subclass will remain open for applicants who:

• on 20 March 2019, held a Temporary Skill Shortage (Subclass 482) visa in the Medium-term stream, or was an applicant for a Temporary Skill Shortage (Subclass 482) visa in the Medium-term stream that was subsequently granted, or
• on 18 April 2017 held a Temporary Work (Skilled) (Subclass 457) visa; or was an applicant for a Temporary Work (Skilled) (Subclass 457) visa that was subsequently granted.

'Orphan' RSMS nominations lodged before 16 November 2019, will be taken to have been withdrawn on 16 November 2019 if:

• the nomination has not been approved or refused before 16 November, and
• the nominee is not transitional 457 or 482 employee, and
• the nominee has not lodged 187 visa application before 16 November

Closure - Subclass 489 Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa

The Department has announced the transitional arrangements for the closure of the Skilled Regional (Provisional) Subclass 489 visa program. The following timeline has been provided by the Department:

Applications lodged prior to the 16 November 2019 cut off date will continue to be processed as usual.

Following the announcement of the 10 September 2019 cut off date, state, territory and regional authorities are beginning to provide information on their procedures in the lead up to the closure of the Skilled Regional (Provisional) Subclass 489 visa program.

New South Wales - RDA Updates

RDA Central West - nominations closed, new occupation lists to be posted by 5 August 2019, with registrations opening on 5 August and closing on 9 August 2019.

RDA Northern Inland - applications currently closed, but may reopen if advised by NSW Government on 22 July 2019. Last date for accepting 489 applications 3 September 2019.
