    Onshore Child Visas

For eligible children already in Australia, these are the types of child visas they may be best qualified for.

    Child (Permanent) (Subclass 802)

For dependent children whose parent is either an Australian citizen or permanent resident, subclass 802 is a permanent visa for single applicants aged under 18, full-time student between 18 and 25, or over 25 but disabled and cannot work.

    Orphan Relative (Permanent) (Subclass 837)

If the child is under the age of 18, single, and with no parent(s) to care for them, an orphan relative visa lets the child applicant live permanently in Australia with a sponsoring relative who is either an Australian, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.

    Dependent Child Visa (Subclass 445)

This child visa subclass is for children whose parent holds a temporary partner visa and is in the process of obtaining a permanent partner visa. Once this is granted, the child must then be included in the permanent partner visa application as a dependent. Application for this visa can be made inside or outside Australia.

    Offshore Child Visas

For children living overseas who wants to live with their sponsoring parents, their visa options are:

    Child (Permanent) (Subclass 101)

For dependents overseas whose parent is either an Aussie, New Zealander, or Australian permanent resident, the subclass 101 visa is a permanent visa for single children over 18 years of age but under 25, or over 25 but financially dependent on the parent and cannot work due to a disability.

    Orphan Relative (Permanent) (Subclass 117)

This permanent residence visa is for overseas children whose parents are deceased, permanently immobilised, or whose
whereabouts are unknown. They must have a permanently settled Australian relative to sponsor them.

    Adoption (Permanent) (Subclass 102)

For children living overseas who have been or about to be adopted by an Australian citizen or a permanent residency visa holder, an adoption visa lets them live permanently in Australia with their adoptive parent(s).

Important Note: If the child was adopted before the parent became an Australian citizen or the holder of an Australian permanent visa or an eligible New Zealand citizen, they should instead apply for a Child visa (subclass 101).

This temporary visa is for non-New Zealand citizens to travel to and live in Australia with a New Zealand citizen family member, who is a special category visa holder Subclass 444. You can apply for this visa both onshore and offshore.

    Remaining Relative (Subclass 835) (Permanent)

Intended for people in Australia to remain with their brothers, sisters or parents who are their only near relatives and are usually resident in Australia. It’s a permanent visa with work and study rights.

Aged Dependent Relative (Subclass 838) (Permanent)

For aged persons who rely on a relative in Australia for all, or most, of their ongoing living costs, a subclass 838 allows for permanent settlement in Australia with the sponsorship of an Australian citizen, New Zealander, or PR visa holder relative.

    Carer (Subclass 836) (Permanent)

For people in Australia who need to and would like to care for an Australian relative in Australia, who has an ongoing medical
condition requiring care, this visa lets them stay in Australia indefinitely as a carer.

    Other Family Visas (Offshore)

For those living outside Australia but have an eligible relative to sponsor them for temporary or permanent residency, the offshore visas are:

Remaining Relative Visa (Offshore) (Subclass 115)

For people outside Australia who want to join their brothers, sisters or parents who are their only near relatives here can be sponsored for a permanent remaining relative visa.

    Aged Dependent Relative (Subclass 114)

For elderly individuals outside Australia who depend on a relative in Australia for most or all of their living expenses, the subclass 838 visa allows for permanent settlement in Australia with the sponsorship of an Australian citizen, New Zealander, or permanent resident relative.

    Carer Visa (Offshore) (Subclass 116)

I trusted Parish Patience with my migration and skills assessment process and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. Initially, I was advised by Mr Golam and Upasana to proceed with my Subclass 485 pathway. Based on their advice, I paid for skills assessment and also completed a PTE exam. However, I later found out that an important requirement for my VETASSESS application — having at least one year of relevant post-qualification work experience — had not been clearly explained to me before lodging the application. My application was submitted using work experience from before my studies and the outcome was negative. After that, I was advised that applying through Engineers Australia using the CDR pathway would be easier and would give me a better chance of receiving a positive skills assessment outcome. I followed their advice again, paid additional fees, but unfortunately received another negative outcome. During this process, two separate Subclass 485 visa applications were lodged and later withdrawn. I experienced significant financial loss through application fees, assessments, and English testing costs. I was fortunate that I still held a valid student visa, which made it possible to withdraw the applications without further complications. From my personal experience, I felt the communication, assessment of eligibility, and overall service quality were poor. I also did not receive any compensation or satisfactory resolution for the losses I experienced. I hope future clients receive clearer advice about eligibility requirements and possible risks before committing financially.

I cannot thank Shan and his entire team Devika Veluchamy, usman ali, enough for the incredible work they did on my protection visa case. After a long and stressful journey, my protection visa has finally been approved, and I truly believe this would not have been possible without their hard work, professionalism, dedication, and support throughout the entire process. Shan handled my case with great care, honesty, and deep knowledge of immigration law. He was always professional, patient, and genuinely supportive during one of the most difficult times of my life. His assistants and the whole team were also extremely kind, responsive, and helpful whenever I had questions or needed assistance. I highly recommend Shan and his entire team to anyone dealing with immigration or protection visa matters. Thank you again for everything you have done for me and my future. I will always be grateful. — Abbas Khan
